Vivian Wagner — “Orion’s Break”

Sometimes, when we’re not
looking, he walks across the sky,
a little rooster at his feet.
He likes to get out and about,
stretch his legs, put down his
bow and arrow, take a drink of
celestial water, gaze at the infinite
horizon, shake out his stiff joints,
reset his Betelguese and Rigel.
Eventually he strides back into
place, taking up a position he only
pretends is fixed, smiling at his ruse.
